What an awesome exposition this Greatness journey Series has been. We have been able to establish the immense benefits of Starting Early and doing what Responsibility Demands in achieving greatness. And in our last session we emphasized what is required for a lasting, enduring and sustainable Success — and that is placing and putting God first before your dreams and aspirations.
In this session, we will be enlightening you on the Rudiments of Spirituality i.e. what ‘Placing and Putting’ God first entails. But before we break the ice on this subject, please be aware that:
Whatsoever trade, dream, or aspiration you pursue/achieve outside Christ often leads to frustration and dissatisfaction. The scripture refers to these as bodily exercise that profiteth little. 1 Timothy 4:8 KJV:
“For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come”.
Although some trade existing outside Christ might appear successful on the outward look, yet they are ‘Can of Worms’ wrapped up in attractive satin saches. They offer little or no good. Remember ‘Not all that glisters is Gold’. You might be wondering, how about organisations that have survived the test of time but there management system do not identify with Christ. Yes there are organisations like this, but what we often fail to understand is that, most of this organisation’s core values are created using the injunctions and principles laid down by God in the Bible for guaranteed success. These principles commands results regardless of individual’s standing with Christ: God is not a respecter of person. No wonder Jesus Christ admonished the children of God in Luke 16:8:
“And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light”. (Read Luke 16:1-13 for the full account).
However for those Organisation’s whose core values are not founded on God’s principles and injunctions, they are only gathering for the righteous to possess (in modern time, such occurrence is disguised as ‘Merger or Property Acquisition’): it’s only a matter of time, the weed on a farm land will surface, outgrow and smother the seed plant. (Read up the Founding history of great and mighty organizations that suddenly bankrupt and cease to exist. Also check out those still weathering the storm till date). Proverbs 10:16 gave insight on this occurrence:
“The labour of the righteous tendeth to life(increase/growth): the fruit of the wicked to sin(destruction)”. [Emphasis/interpretation mine].
Having established this expository insight, what then is Godliness and Spirituality?
Simply put: DOING ALL THE SCRIPTURE (THE WORD OF GOD) INSTRUCTS IN TOTALITY. For instance if you are vying for good success in a Trade Business, the scripture commands you are not to use false scale in apportioning your goods for sale (Read Proverbs 11:1, Proverbs 20:23); and obeying this does not exempt you from abiding by all others alike, such as:
“..the labourer(someone working for you) is worthy of his reward” 1 Timothy 5:18.
We are to obey ALL that the scripture commands and also to seek the face of the LORD in every decisions or steps before taking them — this is all godliness/spirituality entails — and this is what commends us before God, for enlistment unto Greatness.
In conclusion Joshua 1:8 summarizes what it means to be Spiritual. Hear what it says:
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do (OBEY) according to ALL that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”.[KJV Emphasis mine]. Therefore beloved, see to it that you obey all scriptural instructions completely — not partly or partially — for they are not grievious, but they are provided for your profiting unto good success.
Till we come your way again, and “till the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, continually seek Him while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near”. (Isaiah 55:6).
