Proverbs 27:5-6 KJV:
“Open rebuke is better than secret love. [6] Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful”.
1 Thessalonians 5:21 KJV:
“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good”.

Once you find a true friend through sincere prove over time, respect them, value them, and keep them. They are your God created examiner: to correct your mistakes if you will let them. They are your observer, even when you not aware someone is watching your back. They are your fan and cheerleader, when you need a little encouragement to get you going. They sharpen you even as a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Their rebuke is priceless, yield to it. Their laughter is golden, cherish it. Don’t betray their trust; you might not earn it again. Don’t discard their advise before you hear it; it may be a revelation you are yet to glean.

Friends like Jonathan are scarce and costly, ask David. 1Samuel 18.

Friends like Jonadab are rampant and sly ask Amnon. 2 Samuel 13.

Finally, in all your search and prove for a true friend, make Jesus Christ your number one Friend, and He will order your search for a true friend.
He is the Fairest of ‘ten thousand friends’. He is the Lily of the Valley. He is the Bright and Morning Star. He is the Living Bread to the hungry. He is the Living Water to the thirsty. He is the great Physician, He is the Miracle worker. He is the Joy of the whole Earth. He is the Father to the fatherless, Husband to the widow. In sorrow He is the sure Comforter. In trouble He is the sure deliverer. There is no such friend to be compare to Him….
Once again make Jesus your number one friend, you won’t regret you did: Flesh may not be able to provide you the needed help in some cases. True friends may even fail you, but Jesus never fail.
Psalm 60:11 KJV
“Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man”.
