Daisy, jumped out of bed. The noise from her bedside alarm, stabbed her sweet sleep with excruciating pain. It’s 7am already? She hastily launched for her smart phone — the one she left plugged, through the night, on a live ‘charging machine’. “I slept late again” she muttered to herself. Instantly she gave the phone ‘you-caused-it-look’😒. But when she saw the number of notifications on her Social Media Apps, her grievance melted away: just as sun melts butter. ‘Thank God it’s Saturday’, she thought to herself.
The notifications were bleeding red, calling for her urgent attention. She clicked; the clock ticked away in the new day, and at the same time, ‘The Thief of Time’ ticked his register and sent a message to the Chief Thief: “Daisy, just like Cacey, has been caught in our web of wasted time and management”! So reads the thief’s text.
Somewhere not very far, on the same day. Another story was told:
“Jaden is young and vibrant!”. This is the best description you get about him among those that knew him. Soon it became Jaden’s anthem. For someone who has an outing with his father at noon, at break of dawn one will agree there is quite alot of time for Jaden to get ready.
It is coincidental the statement: ‘there is quite alot of time’ can be said of Jaden’s age with respect to life. Indeed time is on his side.
He brushed his teeth, and decided to bath after he sort out his outfit for the outing. He picked his choiced pant and shirt, the ones he had set aside the night before to iron, but did not because he believed there is still time in the morning to prepare; moreover he was too tired to iron them the night before. Now he is set, ready to iron them, he found his sister using the iron. “Missy when you are done ironing, holla at me, I need to clean my shoes” Jaden said. Before Missy could respond he whizzed away.
A slow melodic rhythm, buzzing from the Radio nearby, subtlely mocked Jaden. The ‘Thief of Time’ was the Radio DJ. The Thief chuckled in the background. He delighted in the potency of his procrastination spell at work on Jaden. “Yes, yes!” The Thief mumbled.
The clock ticked away; The Thief sowed delay and Jaden stayed away. It was the voice of Father that jolted Jaden back to reality. He was completely lost in his search for his shoe lace. He quickly checked the time, it’s few minutes to ‘old age’. Perplexed, he muttered to himself, “Ah, I thought I had time”. He had done nothing. He is not ready. His Father is calling. 😲😔😭
So came Rapture upon Cacey, Daisy and Jaden.
Cacey was found not ready because of idle jesting, Daisy with ‘clicking schedule’ and Jaden with ‘procrastinating schedule’. They were all captured and trapped under the spell casted by the Thief of Time.
John 10:10 KJV
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”.
Beloved, do you lavish your time engaging in idle jesting and gossips?
Or you stray away in the euphoria of Social Media funfair — from one to another till the day is over.
Perhaps yours is procrastination: “I will do it later; moreover it’s still next week before submission — No cause to rush”.
There are numerous and subtle ways The thief comes to steal time. The question remains:
Are you spending your time jesting?
Are you overwhelmed with Social Media fantasy and fancy?
Are you delaying to later what can be done now, even with flimsy excuses?
These are all subtle thief of time. They steal your priceless time. A little today, a little tomorrow, a bit here, a bit there; eventually a life time is stolen.
The habit people struggle with today started from that untamed subtle attitude. In similar pattern does the thief of time crawls into an individual life.
Brethren please watch it, and stay wary so you don’t get caught in the web of wasted time, procrastination and idle jesting.
May God help us all in Jesus name.
Proverbs 6:9-11 KJV
How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
