Good day friends,
I have a question which I have sort answers to but will love to learn from every one here also:
Why is there no revival again like the time of old?
Why do we seek to satisfy n please SELF?
Bro, your observation is very valid in this time and age. All that keeps dropping in my heart with respect to these questions/observation are:
1. In this time and age, there is no yearning or panting for THE LORD as it were in time of Old. If you carry out a survey now, you will find out that very few Christians of nowadays still yearn for Revival. We are all pursuing prosperity, career and business success, great leadership trait and character, fame and societal status etc.
2. In this fast pace technology generation, no one wants to be left behind; hence the place of tarrying and waiting on the LORD, which is the seed for REVIVAL, is empty. The cares of this world is the major bane for NO REVIVAL.
THE DISCIPLE OF CHRIST WERE TOLD TO TARRY FOR THE COMING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. THERE OBEDIENCE IS WHAT BROUGHT THE REVIVAL AT PENTECOST. Act 2:1-47.
Tarrying and yearning is the key; but in this time and age, are there ‘many’ available to tarry? I say ‘many’ because wicked in this age as multiply exponentially than it was in the days of old, and as a result I believe we need many more Christians than we currently have to spark up Revival.
Finally, this is what the LORD is saying to us in this generation: Jeremiah 29:13 KJV
“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
Therefore, without finding the LORD there can be NO REVIVAL.
Matthew 24 and 2Timothy 3
End time syndrome. This question made me remember an old song, the lyrics of the song is this; We are in the last days, perilous times are here. People are forsaking God who is their first love, they now follow the multitudes engaging in their sins forgetting that the Lord is coming soon. Redeem, redeem the time, evil days are drawing near, the love of many waxing colder…….
I can say the evil days are not drawing near but we are now in the evil days!
We need God’s grace and strength to love God and all that is godly now more than ever before.
My brother, your question is well answered in a book written by Leonard Ravenhill titled “Why Revival Tarries”. I agree with the Fire Apostle who explain that revival tarries because of our growing complacency in seeking God with our all. According to Mat 24:12, the love of many is waxing cold, we are no longer people of prayer, intercession is dying, and we have few men of the secret place. I believe the depth at which we seek God is the height we would see his manifestations, revealed by outpouring of revival in the hearts of men.
To the second question, that is just human nature, self is always at the fore-front of any natural man. It takes the Holy Spirit to break a man down towards mortifying the flesh. The height of this is revealed by Jesus struggle when he had to openly pray “Let your will be done, not mine”. That is only what only a man broken by the Holy Spirit can stand for. Apostle Paul also revealed his honest struggle with SELF in Rom 7:15. Victory over self is victory over sin, it is a never ending prayer for any man who don’t want to become an historical Christian, and end up where God found him (in sin). GOD HELP US ALL.
Reasons why revival tarries has been well explained. Nevertheless, I don’t really know how God will do it but I strongly believe the promises of God for the endtime revival will surely come to pass anyway anyhow and this will happen very soon.
This coming revival will take an unusual dimension and it’s going to shake the whole world to it’s foundation.
I believe God is raising for himself soldiers who will tirelessly pursue this endtime goal.
We just need to be sensitive to what God is doing and avail ourselves to be used by God
